Hard-working midcourter Shannon Francois got her break for higher honours in 2013 when called into the Silver Ferns squad as cover. She quickly made her mark with her speed and fitness levels.
A product of Motueka High School, near Nelson, Francois' Netball career gained traction when she headed to Otago University, finding her niche with a young Southern Steel team and going on to become an integral member since joining them in 2012.
Named in the Silver Ferns team for the Australian leg of the 2013 Constellation Cup, Francois earned her first Test Cap, against the Diamonds, in the third Test Match in Adelaide.
Francois toured the UK in January 2014 and was duly selected for the Silver Ferns team for the Commonwealth Games, held the same year in Glasgow, Scotland.
A no-frills type of player, Francois is a whole-hearted performer who can match it with the best through her dogged determination, relentless commitment and ability to execute.
