Lizzy debuted for New Zealand against Korea in 2001. She has since developed into a world class defender who is highly respected by opponents around the world. Captain of the team, Lizzy leads from the front with a high work rate, an uncompromising attitude and has the ability to set up an attack from anywhere on the field. These skills saw her be nominated as a finalist for the FIH world player of the year in 2005 and saw her win the New Zealand women's player of the year in 2004 and 2005. Lizzy has played over 115 test matches for New Zealand and the Beijing Olympics will be her second Olympic Games. Highlights of her career to date include beating Australia to win the Oceania Cup in 2007. Lizzy lives and plays her hockey for North Harbour in the New Zealand Hockey League.
