Glasgow was the fourth Commonwealth Games for Karen after she represented New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games in 2002, 2006 and 2010. Karen placed 3rd in the Women's teams and 2nd in the Women's doubles at the 2002 Games in Manchester. In 2006 she placed 4th in the doubles with team mate Annie Yang and 5th in the team's event in 2010. Karen has also represented New Zealand at two Olympic Games: Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004. Recently Karen and her respective team had a lot of success as overall winners at the 2014 Zen-noh World Table Tennis Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Karen is a right-handed shake hand attacker/counter attacker. Karen has recently returned back to the sport after the birth of her son.
